Pinewood Derby!!

Riley participated in his first pinewood derby last night. He had fun building his car with his dad, he sanded and sanded and sanded that sucker, before they spray painted it. There were probably 15 or so cars. His wasn't the fastest and didn't perform as well as I think he wanted. Truthfully, when he came home he was crushed that he didn't "win". As evidenced by the pictures. We had the whole "doesn't matter who wins, just as long as you have fun and do your very best" talk. Don't think it did a lot for him, but what do you do? That's why he's not smiling in the pictures, cause we took them after the derby was over. He got an award for "Most Skillful Entry", but it didn't make him feel any better. But while they were racing he looked like he was having a good time, his little friends were cheering him on and it was a fun night. Like we told him, this is our first time making a pinewood derby car, and now we know what we want to differently next time.
